We are really interested in hearing everyones thoughts on the new Juniper Networks logo. Is it sleek, modern, childish, simple, sophisticated, trendy, trying-to-hard, high-tech or what? How about the new Junos logo – what do you think about the star/flower – fabulous or failure?
Going a step further, how important is branding to your network equipment purchase decision? We are not talking just logo’s with this one, but over all brand – do you need to know the company you are buying from before you buy when it comes to switches, routers, firewalls, etc? Has Juniper Networks improved or damaged your view of them with this re-branding effort? Has it changed how you perceive them at all?
Please leave your comments below and if you would, note what general sector you work in (carrier, service provider, data-center, enterprise, etc)!

And here I thought it was impossible to do something worse than Cisco’s new crayon drawn logo.
At first I thought it was a marketing blunder. I didn’t initially like the new Juniper logo when I first saw it, but perhaps that is because I have grown to love the existing logo and associated branding for what it represents. A few friends of mine whom work at Juniper told me that Kevin Johnson gave an internal presentation on why they were changing the logo, and how it was an incredibly detailed and thorough effort to develop the new branding in conjunction with marketing firms and focus-groups. They’ve also taken out a huge billboard on Wall Street to become better known in the industry. No matter how you look at it, we’re still dealing with the same company that we know and love. The talent pool at Juniper doesn’t appear to be embarking anytime soon and JUNOS will still continue to convert the hearts and minds of all those who have the opportunity to work with it… Change is always difficult, but at the end of the day, it sounds to me like they really invested a lot of time and money into this decision and if it helps to create broader appeal beyond just “techies” than I think it will be successful. It would be nice to hear folks one day saying “Nobody ever got fired for buying Juniper!”.
