Making HP too big to fail

I began thinking this over after H-P Chief Executive Mark Hurd made a couple of off-handed comments in a recent video interview. He said that today's big IT providers need to have a bigger and bigger presence in all aspects of technology gear, including software and hardware plus services.

Hurd actually suggested, by calling out Oracle and Cisco Systems Inc., that someday H-P will be in direct competition with both. This simply means H-P will buy a database company and a router maker.

In the months ahead, I should be able to spot the buyout candidates. I'm looking for them now. How does Juniper Networks Inc. sound?
